This case study was done as part of a case study to show how to market a house for sale. I was asked to look at the Search Engine Optimization aspect of what was done in the case study. When we talk about Search Engine Optimization, we are talking about anything that is done to get a web page listed higher in the search engine results.

Two Important parts of Search Engine Optimization

SEO, as its commonly called boils down to two main things you can do to improve your search engine results. The first is things you do off the web page. The second is things you would do to the web page, or on page things. A house for sale article is not something that will be around for awhile. Both the realtor and the seller want that house to be sold, and fast! Everything that is done for off-page SEO has to do with getting things from other web pages. It takes time. By the time we got off page results, the house would be sold. For that reason I am only going to talk about on page things we can do.

On Page search engine optimization

I am going to assume the realtor is just like most realtors, they have no idea how to create a page, and don’t really want to know. There are a lot of realtors that create pages only to find out their pages are not being seen by the search engines. Usually they don’t realize what is happening. They break their buns improving and improving, and nobody is reading!

KEYWORDS

I agree with the previous article in that the proper search would be either “House for sale haverford, pa” or “Real estate haverford, pa”, or it could be the combination of the two “Real estate house for sale haverford, pa”. Let me just add that the proper search is “House for sale” “haverford, Pa.”. With that search you are saying show me results with these words together. A major difference in the results, much more accurate, but most searchers don’t know that! And of course the other search would be “real estate” “Haverford, Pa.”.

First up - the address of the page

Better known as the URL of the page. In most cases the URL does not mean much, but, when it comes to real estate it means a lot because it is so competetive. OK, lets look at both pages. You might want to remember were these links are because you will keep using them throughout the article. The original Video web page, and the recommended house for sale article. The address of the video page is “http://youtube.com/watch?v=C8EAfXYXpcQ”, and the address of the recommended real estate article is “http://ardmore.pa.ismyloca……2/18/house-for-sale-haverford/”. Although the article is very long, at has more keywords mentioned then the video page, thats for sure.

The page Title

No not what you see on the actual displayed page. I’m talking about all the way up top, the upper left corner of your screen. The Title of this page is “Case Sudy - House for sale - search engine optimization LaMach web site design”, boy I hope I don’t change it! The video web page says “YouTube - 35 Evans Lane Haverford Pa. 19041 $1,450,000″, and the recommended house for sale article says “House for sale - Haverford, Pa. - Real Estate Ardmore, Pennsylvania”. The article is the pure winner here. YouTube is looking to do nothing but have you popularize their name!

The Title of the web page

YES! Now we are talking about whats up top on the actual web page you are viewing. Things get a little tricky here folks. Just stand aside and let a professional handle this. The video web pages title (or heading) is ” “. No thats not a typo! There is no Heading set that the search engines read! It happens a lot. And the heading on the article web page is “Ardmore, Pennsylvania House for Sale Haverford, Pa. real estate”. I’ll let you figure out which is best!

Final thoughts

A very important subject on all the search engine results is what we call authority. The video page has a lot of authority. A whole lot. The only reason the video got any listing at all is because YouTube is so strong. The Ardmore, Pa. web site is only four weeks old. It has almost a negative authority. Google just yesterday started to pick it up! In the very near future (a month or so) the site will get more authority and blow the doors off the competition. Clear winner is the Ardmore, Pa. web site. And it is only going to get better from this point forward. Another plus the Ardmore Web Site has in its favor is, its local, its more relevant, and it has no ads. The search engines love web sites with no ads! This is selling a house for sale from a city that doesn’t match. Can you imagine he strength of the results if the house was in Ardmore, Pa.?
