The information is out there. It’s all FREE. I just have a feeling it’s just too hard to find. When you talk about search results for a competitive keyword(s), all of a sudden, everything but free information shows up. Usually what you’ll end up finding is sales pages and truly nasty people.

When we talk about engine and search engine optimization, we are usually talking about a web search engine. A search engine is what is used on the internet to search for information in the internet.

Internet Marketing

Marketing of course is anything that is done to promote something, usually a business. When we talk about Internet Marketing, it refers to anything at all done on the internet to promote something, usually a web site, or web page. Internet Marketing is usually used to promote a service or product on the internet.

Optimization

When you optimize something you make something as perfect or as effective as possible. In relation to search engine optimization we are trying to make our web page and web site as effective as possible, so the search engines will recognize them.

Search

Search refers to what a computer user would do to find information on the internet. They would go to their favorite search engine and submit a word, or phrase that they want information on and ask the search engine to perform a search.

If your reading this web design blog, I’m sure you know the value of backlinks to your pages. Backlinks help you get authority for your pages. This is what you want the world to know what you are all about. What you may not realize is that it is all about being relevant. There is nothing worst than a backlink from a site that has nothing to do with what your site is about. Unless, of course, you’re an authority website.

Authority Websites are trusted websites

Ends up, a non-relevant backlink from an authority website is just as good as a relevant backlink from relevant websites. Guess I should show some examples. Let’s say I want to smooze (or is it schmooze?) a website owner that has an authority website. I will give him so much love, he’ll feel obligated to return the favor. If he is a make money online blog, I don’t think I should include the link in an article about Philadelphia Toys. No, I’m writing this article that has something to do with his web site, thats why he should feel sorry for me and return the link. If I was an authority site I could, but I’m not. Who do I have in mind? Who’s my victim?

One of the make money online blogs I follow is the website created by GRIZ. Griz definitely knows his stuff when it comes to search engine optimization and getting traffic. His site is Make MoneyOnline for Beginners. He also just started a new website called Make Money Online with Grizzly. Wonder if he thinks I’m going to follow both sites. It would be to my benefit to follow both sites, that’s for sure. I’m here to tell ya, the guy knows his stuff. If you go to his site, bring your thinking cap. He writes long informative articles that are extremely useful. OK, enough about him, I schmoozed enough to make him feel obligated.

Why should he backlink to me?

Because I’m special. Yea, right! Ha Ha! He will link back to me because this article is relevant to his web site and what he is doing. This article is about backlinks. He of course is an expert in backlinks. He wants all to know that outsiders are writing about his blog on backlinks (and so much more!).

Why wouldn’t he backlink to me?

He wouldn’t backlink to me if I wrote an article about Philadelphia Toys and gave him the same schmoozing. The interesting thing is, since he is an authority site, he could link to my Philadelphia Toys web page and have no problems because he is an authority. I can’t link to him and expect anything in return because I am not yet an authority. If the kind man would link to me, I could become an authority! ….Had to try one more time!

Blogger on Google, or Blogger on my host?

I want to try out the totally free Blogger software hosted by the Blogger site. I am doing this because I want to see how Blogger handles everything. A lot of times we are our own worst enemies when it comes to Search Engine optimization on web pages. So many thing available to do to your page, and all we end up doing is splattering page juice all over the place, or worst yet, to other sites.

Indexing on Blogger

I have heard that if its a new site, and its on Blogger there is a good chance it will be indexed. We’ll see. I do feel that if it is on Blogger, the search engine Google, will know it’s not spam.  I don’t want to have anything to do with spam, so this is a good thing.

I picked something that would take me a very long time to get recognized for in the search engines. I picked Real Estate.  More specifically, Philadelphia PA Real Estate. More specifically, Metropolitan Philadelphia Real Estate. The blog is Philadelphia Real Estate. Thats the only link I am going to give it. I want to see what will happen.

Additions to the blog

I am going to limit any additions to the blog. I want to see what the software can do for me. I will keep writing articles on the blog and well see if Blogger Software is really the best software. Actually, it’s Blogger Software, on the Blogger Site.

What I am really looking forward to is the education I am going to receive. Not only is it a competition, it is going to be a learning experience. My entry web site will be about The Real Estate Agent Online. I plan on really setting the record straight on how the real estate industry, and all agents involved are really missing a big opportunity in the real estate industry. Search Quality is the goal

The Vice-President in charge of search quality at Google is Udi Manber. Veryrarely does he say anything at all about search engine results, or how to achieve the top listing in the search engines. Well, he did sit down for an interview the other day. You can read the article about the interview and immediately understand how hard it is to keep up with the search engine algorithm. The algorithm determines the top listings on the search engine results page.

What I learned about the Google Search Engine

I learned two very important things from reading the article:

1 - Google changed its’ search engine algorithm over 400 times last year. Ok, so if they work a normal 200 day year, that means they change their algorithm an average of two times a day. Now do you understand why most small business owners who have a web site don’t have a chance without an SEO consultant?

2 - Google can’t manually go in and make certain web pages show up better on the search results page for certain keywords. They can change their algorithm, which changes for all searches, but they can’t take one instance of a keyword search, and place or remove any one web page. They can’t say hey, let’s change the results for web site design, lamach web site design is showing up at 2, they should be at number 1.

Summary of the Google Search Engine Algorithm

This just confirms what I’ve been trying to say for a while now. The search engine results and the techniques used to get those results, by way of search engine optimization is constantly changing. Not only constantly changing, but changing at a fast pace, usually a couple times a day. Do yourself a favor, get a search engine optimization consultant to look at your web site. It will save you from wasting all kinds of valuable resources.

The Drexel Hill, Pa. Blog is a wordpress blog. As a blog, this site has many advantages over a static website. I wrote an article about the advantages of blogging on the Drexel Hill, Pa. Blog. To review, here are some of the advantages of using a blog:

• Interaction - A WordPress Blog is all about interaction. Opinions can fly back and forth between author and reader.
• Up-To-Date Front Page - The Front Page is a common gathering place to find all information. To see what is being published just link to the front page.
• Search Engine Friendly - The WordPress software was built for the search engines. It is automatically search engine friendly. Search Engines love fresh new content, and the interactivity of a blog is something they gobble up.

Local - The entire site is focused towards one location. Anyone attached to this local website will be known for that location. The pages are strong with the keywords Drexel Hill, Pa.

Posting - Posting of content is easy and quick. If you can type you can add copy. Posts usually get indexed within minutes. Try that with your static website. I will put forth a warning. Age of site - The site is only 2-3 months old. In a year, this will be a non-issue, but for right now, the search engines are holding back authority.

Competition for being on front page - if there are 30 businesses and each posts 1 post a week, that means about 5 posts a day. That front page may change so much, that the audience misses the content.

Limited Locations - Right now there are only a few locations, less than 20. More is coming, and quick. But, for now, the locations list is limited.
